Press Release, Ulm, 08 January 2025: Elbit Systems Deutschland began the scheduled deliveries of new laser target designators to the Bundeswehr at the end of November 2024.
The Rattler XR systems not only eliminate the compatibility problems with the technical interfaces of friendly nations during exercises and operations that have arisen in some cases, but they also offer a significantly wider performance spectrum. For example, the Rattler XR has a high laser output with low beam divergence, integrated laser see spot and a spillover alarm to prevent munitions from missing the target and jeopardising the mission. Thanks to its open communication architecture, the Rattler XR can also easily interoperate with other systems and sensors, such as thermal imaging devices, enabling comprehensive reconnaissance and designation of targets by day and night.
Elbit Systems Deutschland offers the Rattler XR in combination with the AION-C and HattoriX products in the TRIDENT system for optional expansion of the functions with additional optronics and integrated data communication. This makes TRIDENT the ideal equipment for JTAC (Joint Tactical Attack Controller), for example.
The Bundeswehr will initially receive the new laser target designators in smaller quantities to meet an immediate operational requirement. Other NATO forces have also already opted for the Rattler XR as a successor and replacement system for their respective equipment.
With the development and integration of the Rattler XR, Elbit Systems Deutschland is once again underlining its expertise as a leading provider of electro-optics and system integration.
