Press Release, Huntsville, 28 May 2020: Waymon Armstrong, CEO / president, announced that Engineering & Computer Simulations (ECS) has been awarded a contract extension by the US Army Program Executive Office – Aviation (PEO Aviation) in its Project Manager Cargo (PM Cargo) office for additional maintenance training and modernisation upgrade programmes. ECS has been developing a modernised desktop cockpit and interactive maintenance training programmes and upgrades for about two years; this award has now been extended to provide additional coursework and training. Jeff Huber, Vice President of Operations, Huntsville, will continue overseeing this project from the ECS Huntsville office.

Armstrong states: “ECS has been supporting military aviation contracts for over 23 years, and we’re elated to continue working with the US Army to deliver PM Cargo modernisation and upgrades in the areas of customised, instructional systems design, and courseware. This type of innovative training, not only enhances the training experience for today’s aviators, but also ensures that the Warfighters and aircraft continue to perform at maximum efficiency.”

The PM Cargo project includes developing a modernised training solution to upgrade the CH-47F Chinook. This enhancement involves significant structural, software, and systems updates. The ECS team will also deliver customised training solutions to help educate soldiers on the differences between the Multi Year II Configured Chinook, which features enhanced engines and improved avionics, and the Chinook Block II CH-47F upgrade, which provides greater lift capacity and strengthened features. This award extension allows for the development of additional training scenarios.

Huber adds: “Utilising over 90 years of combined staff experience and service in Army Aviation, we are proud to improve our Warfighters’ capabilities. Our dedicated team of project managers, subject matter experts, and instructional designers stand ready to support PEO Aviation with customised training programmes and innovative technology solutions to help prepare our Army’s Aviation teams for the challenges they face globally on a day-to-day basis.”
