Press Release, Reading, 07 October 2026: In collaboration with Thales in Spain, we have signed a contract with Indra to integrate Lightweight Multirole Missile (LMM) into a new, very short-range air defence solution (VSHORAD) called SILAEM (Shipborne Launcher System) for the Spanish Navy.
Under the contract, Thales will also provide the weapon integration kit and the technical expertise required to support the integration of the LMM into SILAEM, providing the first ever VSHORAD solution to the Spanish Naval Forces.
This contract underscores the value of Thales’s global portfolio in supporting countries worldwide. More broadly, the programme will enable the Spanish Navy to benefit from Thales’ combat-proven missile technology, further reinforcing our role as a trusted partner in the development of advanced naval defence capabilities.
LMM is a trusted asset and is currently in service across the globe. In the UK, LMM has recently achieved full operating capability with the Royal Navy on the Wildcat helicopter.
